Do these stack. If I had [backfire] , and with fast casting got it to cast in ~2 seconds. If my Half cast time mod activated, would it half the original 3 seconds to 1.5, or does fast casting come before the half cast time mod making it cast in 1 second?

you can quarter casting time by using 2 HCT mods, so i think FC & HCT stack (not sure, though)

I believe they stack. And the order in which they happen shouldn't matter.

In your example you would have 3 secs x 2/3 (fast casting) = 2 sec. Then 2 sec x 1/2 (HCT) = 1 sec

Or 3 secs x 1/2 (HCT) = 1.5 sec. Then 1.5 sec x 2/3 (fast cast) = 1 sec

Actually, this is another reason I think Mesmers are best suited to casting spells from ANOTHER profession. It seems to me that most mesmer skills are designed to be cast with decent fast casting, so that reducing the cast time by 1/3 only serves to bring the skill down to where it should be in the first case.

Shills from other professions, however, are generally not balanced with Fast Casting in mind, so they really benefit.
